'I have been making candlesticks of various shapes and sizes over the past eight months. The simplicity, ambiance and evolving sculptural nature of these objects was what drew me in. A candlestick in a room with a tall drippy candle posesses a beautiful energy. It is simple in its function and needs little physical interaction to perform its task. It emits an ambiance and calming energy within a space that is difficult to achieve with an electric light source. It is a constantly evolving sculptural form that develops as wax drips and builds over time and the flame flutters and moves with its surroundings.’ - Angus Gardner.
This collection of candleholders captures the calming movement of an underwater forest. Gardner's sculptures have been energetically worked into, offering a vehicle for light emission whilst complimenting the elemental forces of fire within a single candlestick - the perfect harmony of water and fire colliding.
